About Church Farm Bungalow
Church Farm Bungalow is a residential care home at Ottershaw in Surrey. We support older people who need help with daily living, adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Respite stays are available as well. We are a household rather than a facility, and supporting a mixed group well depends on treating each person as an individual rather than as a category. Support is agreed with the person, written in terms they recognise, and reviewed as things change. Some residents need a great deal of hands on help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility. Others mainly want a settled home and support that is there when they ask for it. For autistic people, predictability is a need rather than a preference, so changes are explained in advance, staffing is kept consistent where we can, and noise, light and busyness are taken seriously. For residents living with dementia we keep routines and surroundings familiar and give people time. For those with physical disabilities or sight and hearing loss, the emphasis is on equipment that fits, safe transfers and unhurried communication. Wherever we can, we do things alongside people rather than for them, because a skill used is a skill kept. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit and ask us whatever they need to know.
