About Us
15 Park View is a small residential care home in Houghton Le Spring, Sunderland. We support adults with a learning disability or autism and adults living with a mental health condition, and we offer respite care for planned short stays.
Being small is the whole point. It means the people who live here are known properly, the house stays calm enough for those who need calm, and support can be shaped around individuals instead of around a rota. Everyone has their own room and their own belongings, and the day runs the way the people living here want it to run.
We work on the ordinary business of an adult life. Cooking a meal you chose, doing the shopping, keeping your room how you like it, managing money and appointments, getting to college or work, seeing friends and family, and going out locally when you feel like it. Where somebody wants to take something on for themselves we support that, even when it takes far longer than doing it for them would.
We adapt how we communicate to suit the person, and we pay close attention to the environment as well, because noise, pace and predictability often matter more than anything we say. Difficult days are met calmly rather than treated as a crisis.
Support is agreed with each person, written in a form they can understand, and reviewed honestly rather than left to drift.
If you are looking into a place or a short stay, please contact us and we will talk it through openly.
