About Us
Prince of Wales House is a residential care home in Ipswich. We support older people and younger adults, including many who are living with dementia, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of that, but it is not really the point. What it reflects is a set of ordinary things done consistently: knowing people properly, keeping promises, noticing when someone is not themselves, and being honest with families when something has gone wrong.
People here choose how the day goes. Someone can have a lie in, eat later, keep their own furniture and pictures around them, and decide whether to join in with what is happening or shut their door. There is plenty going on for those who want it and no pressure on those who do not.
Dementia care depends on knowing a life rather than a diagnosis, so we ask relatives to tell us about work, family, habits and the things that used to matter, and we use that to make sense of somebody when words become difficult.
Families are welcome at any reasonable time, and we ask them to tell us early if something is not right rather than saving it up.
If you are considering residential care or respite in Ipswich, please contact us and come and see the home on an ordinary day.
