About Heaton Vale
Ours is a residential care home in Stockport supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. It is a house and a household, not a facility, and the people who live here have their own rooms, their own belongings and a say in how the week is arranged. Support is worked out with each person rather than decided for them. For some that means practical help with washing, dressing, cooking and looking after their own space. For others it is about getting out to work, college or the things they enjoy, managing money, and having somebody steady alongside in situations that might otherwise feel overwhelming. We pay close attention to how each person communicates and to what helps them feel settled. Respite stays are available too. We would rather be plain about inspection than quiet about it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. That is not where we want to be and we are not going to present it as anything else. Specific things were found wanting, work is under way on them, and the fair test is whether you can see the difference when you come. So please do come. Look round, meet the people who live and work here, and ask us directly what was found and what has changed since.
