About Us

Fairmont Residential is a care home in Stourbridge supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays for people who need a place for a shorter period.

This is a house where people live their own lives rather than a setting where things are done to them. People choose how their rooms look, take part in shopping, cooking and keeping the place going as much as they want to and are able to, and get out to what they genuinely enjoy locally. Where somebody wants a job, a course or a regular club, we build the support around making that realistic rather than treating it as an optional extra.

The work is won in the detail. How much noise there is in a room. Whether a change of staff or plan has been flagged days in advance rather than sprung on somebody. Which way of communicating actually reaches a person, whether that is speech, symbols, writing or simply patience and time. We keep the staff team as consistent as we can and train people to recognise the early signs of distress and prevent it rather than respond afterwards.

Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are proud of that and clear with ourselves that it describes work already done. Visitors and referrers are welcome to come and see the house.

Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?

No. Fairmont Residential Limited is not listed for dementia care on the CQC register. If dementia is likely, choose a home that is, so a second move is not needed later. Source: CQC register

Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.

Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.

Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?

Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.

Do they take younger adults as well as older people?

Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.

Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?

Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
