About Fenwick
Fenwick is a residential care home in Southwark. We support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with mental health needs, including younger adults, and we offer respite stays for people who need residential support for a short period. The house is run around the people who live in it. Everyone has a support plan written with them, in a form they can use, covering how they like to be supported, what they enjoy, what they find difficult and what they want their week to contain. Some people here want a clear structure and tell us plainly when it slips. Others prefer to please themselves. People go out across London, keep up college, work, clubs and family contact, and we treat that as the purpose of the place rather than something to fit in when staffing allows. Where somebody has mental health needs, we agree in advance what a difficult period looks like for them and what they want us to do, so nobody is improvising at the worst moment. Where somebody does not use speech, we learn how they do communicate and make sure the whole team knows. Any restriction on a person's freedom is agreed formally, recorded and reviewed with a view to reducing it. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Families, advocates and commissioners are welcome to visit.
