About Us
Nynehead Court is a residential care home near Wellington in Somerset, supporting older people including many living with dementia. We also welcome respite guests.
We are fortunate in our setting and we make use of it. There are grounds to walk in, places to sit outside and a good deal of quiet, and all of that matters more than it might sound, particularly for people who become unsettled in busy surroundings.
The home runs at the pace of the people living in it. Residents get up when they are ready, eat what they want and spend their days as they choose. Staff learn people's histories rather than just their needs, because knowing someone's life is what makes it possible to care for them properly.
In our dementia care we keep routines familiar, the environment calm and the staffing as steady as we can manage. We follow the person rather than correcting them, and when someone is distressed we look for what lies behind it. Families are usually the best source of what has always worked, so we ask them.
Respite guests receive exactly what permanent residents receive, and a planned break can make all the difference to a family carer.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good.
