About Us
House of St Martin is a residential care home near Taunton supporting a wide range of adults. We provide care for older people and for people living with dementia, and we also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Some of the people we support are affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Respite stays are available too.
Supporting such a mixed group means there is no single way of running the home, and we do not pretend otherwise. What we aim for is a place where people are taken as they come and where support is built around the individual. Some residents need a very structured day. Others need the opposite, plenty of freedom and somewhere stable to come back to.
We work without judgement. People who have struggled with addiction often arrive expecting to be treated as a problem to be managed, and that is not our approach. The same goes for people with a long history of mental ill health.
Where sight, hearing or mobility is affected, we adapt the practical side properly rather than leaving people to cope. With dementia, familiar faces and a steady rhythm do most of the work.
Please come and visit House of St Martin and ask us anything.
