About Heron House Residential Home
Heron House Residential Home is in Taunton, Somerset. We are a permanent home to older people, and we also offer respite stays for people who need care for a short period or whose family carer needs a proper break. Our residents need different things from us. Most need help with washing and dressing, moving about safely, medication and meals. Many are living with dementia, and that shapes the whole house rather than a corner of it: we keep the day recognisable, keep the same faces around, leave people's own belongings where they put them, and give somebody who is anxious time rather than argument. We also support people with physical disabilities, thinking carefully about equipment and access, and people living with sight or hearing loss, where how we announce ourselves and how we give information really matters. Food is cooked here and we ask people what they want rather than telling them what there is. There is a garden that gets used, somewhere quiet to sit as well as somewhere sociable, and families are welcome whenever they can come. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it and clear that it has to be earned again every week. Please come and see us and make up your own mind.
