About Catherine House

Catherine House is a residential care home in Taunton. We support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and many of the people living here are younger adults. Being a home for younger adults shapes everything. Somebody in their twenties or thirties has a long life ahead of them, and support that keeps a person safe but idle is not good enough. We start by learning how each person communicates and what they actually want from their week, and we build from there. For some that means plenty going on outside the house, work, college, friends and getting out locally. For others it means a quieter household with support close at hand. Where somebody has a sensory impairment we pay close attention to the environment itself, since practical changes often do more for independence than extra help. We also offer respite stays, giving families a break and the person staying a change of scene with support they can trust. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. We keep our own checks running between inspections rather than waiting to be assessed. If you are looking for a home or a short stay for someone you care about, please get in touch and come and see us.
