About Us
The Maples Residential Care Home is a care home in the Solihull area of Birmingham, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism. We also offer respite stays, which can give a family carer a genuine break while the person staying with us has company and a change of surroundings.
This is somebody's home before it is anything else, and we try hard to run it that way. People have their own rooms, their own routines and a real say in how their days go. Support here is about making ordinary things possible rather than doing them for people. Cooking a meal you actually want. Doing your own shopping. Managing money and appointments. Getting to a club, a course or a job. Keeping in touch with family and friends. We pay attention to that distinction, because independence is quietly worn away by help that arrives too quickly.
Communication matters a great deal to us. Not everybody here uses many words, and understanding somebody properly takes time, attention and a willingness to be corrected rather than assumptions. Plans are written with the person, reviewed honestly and changed when they stop fitting. We also work alongside families and with social work and health colleagues so that support is joined up.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining our practice around choice and independence, where any provider can drift. If you are considering a place or a respite stay with us, please come and visit and meet the people who live here.
