About Stone House
Stone House is a residential care home in Bishops Castle. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people with sight or hearing loss, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. We are a small home in a small town, and both of those things shape how we work. Staff know everybody properly rather than by shift, meals feel like meals, and people are supported to stay part of the community they have often belonged to for years, whether that means the shops, the church, the pub or family living nearby in Shropshire. People keep their own belongings around them, choose how they spend the day and decide for themselves whether to join in. Where dementia or sensory loss makes things harder, we adapt. That might mean checking that hearing aids and glasses are actually being used, keeping rooms well lit and free of clutter, sitting where a person can see your face, and allowing time for someone to answer. Families usually know things about a person that no assessment records, so we ask them, and we keep asking as needs change. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable time. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking at residential care in or around Bishops Castle, please call and arrange to come and visit.
