About Us
Lakeside Residential Care Home is in Littleborough, and we provide residential care for older people, including people living with dementia. We also take planned respite stays.
Most of what makes a care home a decent place to live is undramatic. Getting up when you choose, food you want to eat, staff who know your name and your habits, and somebody noticing when you are not yourself. That is where we put our effort. For residents living with dementia, familiarity and an unhurried approach prevent far more distress than they ever cost, so we keep the day recognisable and let people work at their own pace.
We would rather be straightforward about our position with the regulator. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We are not going to present that as a misunderstanding. It reflected real shortfalls, and our manager and staff have been working through the findings, with tighter medicines practice, clearer record keeping, more training and supervision, and regular internal checks so that gaps are found by us rather than by an inspector.
That work is not finished and we will not pretend that it is. If you are considering Lakeside for somebody you love, please come and look round, ask what has actually changed since the inspection, and speak to residents and relatives while you are here.
