About Us

Cleggsworth Care Home is in Littleborough, and we provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places.

We keep things straightforward. People usually come to us because home had become hard work, and what they want back is some ease. Meals they do not have to think about. Help when washing and dressing has become a struggle. Someone who notices when they are not themselves. Company when they want it and peace when they do not.

Residents carry on running their own lives as far as they are able, choosing their routines, arranging their rooms and deciding how much of the day to spend downstairs. We ask people to bring their own furniture and pictures, because a room that looks like yours makes settling in much easier than one that looks like anybody's.

Dementia care here is built on consistency rather than anything elaborate. Familiar staff, a steady rhythm to the day and knowing something about a person's earlier life do more than any programme. Families usually supply the details that make sense of things, and we ask for them early. When somebody is unsettled, we look for the reason.

Respite suits family carers needing a proper break and people recovering after illness or hospital.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Anyone considering Cleggsworth is welcome to come and look round, meet residents and ask us the awkward questions.
