About Us
Hawthorns Lodge is a residential care home in Saltburn by the Sea. We support older people and some younger adults, and we offer both permanent places and respite stays for those needing care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. Most of our residents need help with washing and dressing, moving about safely, medication given properly and on time, and meals worth looking forward to, with somebody nearby through the night. Many are living with dementia, and for them we keep the day familiar, keep the same staff around and work at their pace rather than ours. We also support people living with mental ill health, working alongside community mental health colleagues so that what happens here fits with the rest of a person's care. We want to be honest with you about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out plainly than have you come across it elsewhere. We understand what the inspectors raised with us, we are working through it, and we will discuss any part of it with families, professionals and the people who live here. What we are working towards is a house that feels like a home. Please come and see us and ask us anything.
