About Us
Brookfield Care Home in Middlesbrough provides residential care to older people and younger adults. Our residents include people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic people, people managing mental health conditions and people with a physical disability.
That is a wide range, so we plan around the individual rather than the group. When someone moves in we ask a great many questions, about routines and preferences, about what helps on a difficult day, about who should be told what. The answers go into a plan our staff actually work to, and we revisit it as circumstances change rather than waiting for a review date.
Day to day, we try to keep the home comfortable and unhurried. People get up when they are ready, meals are cooked here and adapted for individual tastes, and help with personal care is given calmly and with dignity. Company is there for those who want it and quiet is respected for those who do not.
For residents with dementia we keep routines steady and take time to learn a person's history, since that knowledge is usually what allows us to settle someone who is anxious.
We also offer respite stays. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and relatives are welcome to visit and see for themselves.
