About Us
At Framland, we provide residential care for older people in the heart of Wantage, Oxfordshire. We support a range of needs including dementia care, care for people with learning disabilities or autism, and short term respite stays, so families can feel confident that whatever the circumstances, there is a place here for their loved one.
We know that moving into a care home, or even just considering it, can feel like a significant and sometimes daunting step. Our aim is to make that transition as smooth and reassuring as possible, taking time to get to know each person properly before they arrive and continuing to listen carefully once they are settled with us. The people we support are not defined by their care needs, and we try hard to reflect that in the way we go about our day.
Life at Framland is built around routine, familiarity and genuine relationship. We believe that feeling at home matters enormously, and we work to create an environment where people feel safe, respected and able to live as independently as they wish. Whether someone needs a gentle level of support or more hands on assistance throughout the day, we adjust to what works best for them rather than the other way around.
We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of Good, which reflects the consistent effort our team puts in day to day. We do not take that rating for granted and are always looking at where we can do better.
If you are exploring options for yourself or someone close to you, we would genuinely welcome the chance to show you around and have a conversation. Wantage is a lovely town and Framland is very much part of its community.

Questions families ask about Framland
Answered from the CQC register where we can. 5 of these the home has not told us yet, so ask when you call.
Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?
Yes. Framland is registered for dementia care, so someone whose needs increase can usually stay rather than move. Ask how they support people in the later stages. Source: CQC register
Is there a nurse on site if health needs change?
No. Framland is a residential care home without on-site nursing. District nurses and GPs visit, but someone who needs daily nursing may have to move to a nursing home. Source: CQC register
Can they try a short stay before deciding?
Yes. Framland offers respite and short stays, which is a good way to see whether the home is the right fit. Source: CQC register
Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
No. Framland is registered for older people. Younger adults are not listed. Source: CQC register
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
