About Orchard End

Orchard End is a residential care home in Retford. We support older people needing help with daily living, adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions and people whose sight or hearing is impaired. We also support some younger adults. Support here is planned around the individual rather than a house routine everybody has to fit. We find out how somebody likes their day to run, what they eat, whether they want company or quiet and who we should ring when something happens, and we treat that as the substance of the care rather than paperwork. For the autistic people we support, predictability and clear communication do most of the work, so we give notice before anything changes and pay attention to noise and busyness in shared areas. For people living with mental health conditions, consistency and staff who stay steady when things are difficult count for a great deal. Where sight or hearing is impaired we keep belongings where they are expected and check we have been understood. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Nottinghamshire are welcome to visit.
