About Maun View
We are Maun View, a residential care home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. We support older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays. With that range of needs in one home, planning has to be individual. We take time at the start to work out how somebody communicates, what they manage on their own, where they want help and what they would rather nobody did for them, and we change the plan when it stops describing reality. Where dementia and a sensory impairment sit together, which is common, we look at the simple explanation first. A hearing aid that is not working accounts for a great deal that otherwise gets recorded as confusion, and a room somebody cannot make sense of will unsettle anyone. For residents with a physical disability the practical details matter most: enough time that a transfer is unhurried, equipment set up properly, and asking the person how they prefer it done. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
