About Lilac

Lilac is a care home in Mansfield, providing residential care for adults with an unusually wide range of needs. Older people live here, along with residents living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, adults with physical disabilities and those with sight or hearing loss. We support younger adults, we work with people recovering from eating disorders, and we offer respite stays. Running a home with that breadth means we cannot rely on a single routine, and we do not try to. What we do instead is work out carefully what each person needs, where they want help and where they emphatically do not, and then build the day around that. Someone recovering from an eating disorder needs mealtimes handled with tact and consistency. Someone living with dementia needs familiarity. Someone in their twenties with a physical disability needs a life, not a schedule. All of that can sit under one roof if the team is attentive enough. We work closely with health professionals outside the home, because several of the people here have needs that no care home should try to manage alone. Respite stays are available for families needing a break and for people who need support for a short period. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see us in Nottinghamshire and ask us the difficult questions.
