About Tweed View House
Tweed View House is a residential care home in Berwick Upon Tweed, supporting older people, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. Our starting point with anyone moving in is their life so far. What the work was, who the people are, what a normal Sunday looked like, what they cannot stand and what they have always enjoyed. Care planned from that is care that fits, and it makes an enormous difference to how settled somebody becomes in the first few weeks, which tends to shape everything afterwards. For people living with dementia, we work with the person's reality rather than against it. Correcting somebody rarely helps and often distresses. Familiar routines, familiar faces, music and objects that mean something, and staff who have time to sit rather than rush: these do far more than any programme. The house is arranged so that people can move about safely and independently as far as they are able, and where mobility is poor we make sure that does not turn into being left in one chair all day. Getting outside is part of ordinary life, and Northumberland gives us a good deal to look at. We take respite bookings, which gives family carers a proper planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour, and you do not need an appointment to come and see what the place is like.
