About Balmaclellan
We are Balmaclellan, a residential care home in Richmond, North Yorkshire. We offer a settled, domestic sort of place to live for adults who need support with daily life, whether that support is needed for years or for a short respite stay. We provide residential care for people living with dementia and for adults with learning disabilities or autism. Those needs sit alongside each other here, and we plan carefully so that everyone has the routine, the quiet and the company that suits them. Some people want a full day of activity and outings into town. Others want a predictable rhythm and somewhere calm to sit. Both are entirely reasonable ways to live and we support both. Respite stays matter to us. Families who look after someone at home need a proper break sometimes, and a good short stay can also be the gentlest way to find out whether a place feels right. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are open about how we work, we welcome relatives at any reasonable hour, and we would sooner hear a concern early than discover it late. If you would like to look round, please ring us and arrange a time that works for you.
