About Milton Lodge

Milton Lodge is a residential care home in Whitley Bay. Those living here include older people, some living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug use. We also offer respite stays. A mixed household asks more of us rather than less, and attitude matters as much as skill. Several of the people living with us have had experiences of being judged rather than helped, and staff who arrive with opinions about how somebody came to need support are of no use to them. We recruit and train with that firmly in mind. One routine will not suit everybody, so we work out individually what a good day looks like for each person. For some it is company and something going on. For others it is being left largely to themselves. Being by the sea helps. Getting outside, when the weather allows, does more for most people than anything we could arrange indoors. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. What we notice about good settings is that they keep asking questions of themselves.
