About Queensbridge Respite

Queensbridge Respite in North Tyneside provides short breaks in a residential setting. We support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we welcome both older people and younger adults. Respite has two jobs to do and we take both seriously. The person staying with us should have a genuine break, not simply be looked after somewhere else, so we ask what they enjoy and make sure the stay contains some of it. The family carer at home should be able to rest properly, which they only manage if they trust us, so we gather the detail beforehand, the routines, the preferences, the things that unsettle somebody and the things that help, and we get them right from the first day rather than the third. Because people come and go, our team has to be quick at getting to know someone and careful about handing back over at the end. We tell families honestly what went well and what did not. Many people come to us regularly, which means familiar faces, a familiar room and far less anxiety about the stay. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round before you book, and bring the person who will be staying.
