About Us
The Valleys is a residential care home in Scunthorpe. Those living here include older people, many living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. We support younger adults too, and we offer respite stays.
Having a range of ages and needs in one house means we plan for people individually rather than running a single routine and hoping it fits. What a resident in their forties wants from a Wednesday afternoon is rarely what somebody forty years older wants, and treating those as the same thing serves neither.
We take the ordinary business of a household seriously. Food, warmth, laundry that comes back, privacy, being spoken to as an adult, having a say in what happens. Where somebody can do something for themselves we support them to keep doing it, even when stepping in would be faster.
For residents living with dementia we protect the routine and keep the surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the history that lets us understand what somebody means.
The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. We ask residents and their families regularly what we should be doing differently.
