About Us
Roxby House is a residential care home in Scunthorpe, and we support adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults working towards a more independent life. Respite stays are available as well.
We are a household rather than a facility. People here have their own rooms and their own belongings, and a real say over how the day goes. The staff team is kept deliberately consistent, because support from people who know you well is a wholly different thing from support from whoever happens to be on shift. Changes are explained in advance, the shape of the week holds, and we take sensory comfort seriously, since noise, light and busyness often decide whether a day goes smoothly.
Support covers personal care, medication, meals, money and the practical business of running a home, and wherever we can we do things alongside people rather than for them. A skill used is a skill kept, and we are patient about that even when it takes longer.
We are equally interested in what happens beyond the house. College, work or voluntary work, hobbies, friendships and family visits all matter, and helping people keep hold of them is part of the job.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of that, though what we would rather be judged on is whether the people who live here would say the same about this week. Families and professionals are welcome to visit and ask us anything.
