About Sydney House
Sydney House is a residential care home in Norwich. We look after older people who need help with daily life but not nursing care, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We do a narrow thing and we would rather do it properly than spread ourselves thin. What we offer is help with the ordinary day, given without rush. Getting washed and dressed in a way that leaves somebody feeling like themselves. Medicines on time. Meals that are hot, recognisable and actually wanted. Help to move about the building and the garden safely. Company for people who had been sitting alone for most of the week before they came to us. That sounds modest written down, and in practice it is most of what makes the difference between a person who is merely kept and a person who is comfortable. It depends almost entirely on whether staff know the people living here, so keeping our team is where most of our effort goes rather than into decoration. We want relatives in the building often rather than confined to visiting hours, and we would rather be told promptly when we have got something wrong. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us or simply call in, and we will show you round.
