About Oak House

Oak House is a residential care home in Diss, Norfolk. We support older people and adults with learning disabilities, including autistic adults, people living with sight or hearing loss and younger adults, and we offer both permanent places and respite stays. Because the people who live here have quite different needs, we take care to be specific rather than general. For an older resident that may mean unhurried help with washing and dressing, safe support with moving about, medication given properly and somebody nearby at night. For an adult with a learning disability or an autistic adult it may mean a predictable routine, clear information given in good time, help to manage money and appointments, and support to get out to a job, a course or a club. Where sensory loss is part of the picture, how we announce ourselves and give information matters enormously. We pay close attention to how each person communicates. Some people here use speech, others use signs, symbols or a device, and others tell us a great deal through their behaviour, so we take the time to learn it and record what we learn. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please arrange to visit.
