About The Old Hall
The Old Hall is a residential care home in Sleaford in Lincolnshire. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we also support younger adults. Respite stays are available. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are genuinely pleased with that and careful with it too, because a rating describes one particular week and everything that earned it has to carry on happening afterwards. What sits behind it is fairly ordinary. We spend the first weeks learning about a person rather than fitting them into our routine. What they did for a living, what they will not be persuaded to eat, what time breakfast has always been, whether they would rather have company or the door shut and the radio on. Those details are most of what makes a room feel like home. Dementia care here rests on patience and a recognisable day. We avoid surprising people, we keep routines familiar, and when somebody is distressed we look for the cause rather than simply trying to settle them. Relatives usually know what helps and we want to be told. We also take complaints seriously, which sounds minor and is not. Most of what we have improved here began with somebody saying plainly that something was not good enough. Please come and see us and ask us anything you like.
