About Us
Ruckland Court is a residential care home in Lincoln. We support older people who need help with daily life, including many living with dementia, and younger adults who need residential care. We also offer respite stays for short periods. Moving into a home usually follows a hard few months, so we take the settling in gently. We ask about the routines somebody has kept for years, the food they actually like, how they take their tea and whether they are an early riser, and we build around that instead of expecting people to fit in with us. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, and we knock before we come in. Days here are not heavily organised. Some residents want company, conversation, music and a trip out. Others want the newspaper and peace. Both are entirely reasonable and neither is treated as the right answer. For residents living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work, so we keep our team settled and learn each person's history rather than just their care needs. When somebody is distressed we look for the reason behind it. We work with local GPs and community nurses so health changes are picked up early, and families are kept informed as a matter of course rather than only when something is wrong. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Please come and look round.
