About Us

Nightingale House Care Centre is a residential care home in Lincoln. We provide a permanent home for older people who need help with daily living, for younger adults who need a supportive household, and for people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available too, whether booked in advance or needed quickly.

What we try to offer is an ordinary life with help attached, rather than a regime. Residents decide when to get up, where to sit, whether they want company or quiet, and what they would like to eat. We assist with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, and we do only as much as somebody actually needs, because taking over is easy and unhelpful.

Dementia care is a large part of what we do. The practical side of it is unglamorous: keeping the daily rhythm and the surroundings consistent, giving somebody time to find their words instead of finishing their sentence, and knowing enough about their earlier life to understand what a worry is really about. Families hold most of that knowledge and we ask for it early.

For residents with physical disabilities, our attention goes to equipment that fits, transfers managed safely and without embarrassment, and keeping as much independence as somebody wants.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are weighing up options for a relative, come and see us without an appointment if you like. A home is best judged on a normal afternoon rather than a prepared one.
