About The Gables
The Gables is a residential care home in Alford, caring for people from across the Lincolnshire wolds and coast. We support older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with visual or hearing impairments. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We aim for a household rather than an institution. Residents keep their own routines as far as they can, meals are a proper part of the day and there is time for a real conversation. People are encouraged to bring their own furniture and pictures, since a room only becomes yours once your own things are in it. For residents with sensory impairments we adapt how we communicate and how spaces are arranged rather than expecting anyone to adjust to us. For those living with dementia, life history guides everything: someone's trade, their family and what has always comforted them tell us more than any general approach. We want to be straightforward about our last inspection. The Care Quality Commission rated us as requires improvement. We are working through the findings rather than explaining them away, with closer oversight of care records and risk assessments, more structured supervision for our staff and clearer checks that what we plan is what actually happens. Please visit, ask us hard questions and speak to the people who live here.
