About Us
Park Lodge Care Home is a residential care home in Lewisham, south east London, supporting older people, residents living with dementia, a mental health condition or a physical disability, and younger adults who need care in a smaller setting. We also offer respite stays.
We believe a care home should feel like somewhere people live rather than somewhere they are kept. Residents bring their own furniture and photographs, decide how their day runs, and are asked what they want rather than told what is happening. Our staff help with washing, dressing, mobility, medication and meals, and we keep watch on the quieter signals such as appetite, sleep and mood, because those often tell us first that something needs attention.
Lewisham is a mixed and busy part of London and our home reflects that. We take time to understand what matters to each person, including faith, food, language and family customs, and we make room for it rather than treating everyone the same.
Respite is available for planned breaks and for people who need support after illness or a hospital stay, and short stay residents are looked after with the same care as everyone else.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. Families are welcome at Park Lodge and we would be pleased to show you around.

More about the care at Park Lodge Care Home
What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.
Older Person Care
Support for older people in a residential setting usually covers help with washing, dressing, continence, medication prompts and moving safely around the home, alongside meals, laundry and the quieter company of staff and other residents through the day. Park Lodge Care Home is registered for older person care in Lewisham, and the About Us text describes staff watching for softer signals like appetite, sleep and mood as early indicators that something has changed. Families comparing homes should ask how mornings and evenings are actually paced, whether residents can get up and go to bed when they choose, and how many staff are awake overnight. It is also worth asking how GP visits, medication reviews and dental or optical appointments are arranged. Weekly fees in London commonly sit between £1150 and £1500, while Lewisham council typically funds around £850 to £1000.
Dementia
Good dementia care tends to rest on familiar routines, a calm and clearly laid out environment, staff who understand how the condition changes over time, and small everyday choices that keep a person feeling like themselves. Park Lodge Care Home is registered to support residents living with dementia, and its About Us text mentions bringing in personal furniture and photographs and asking people what they want rather than telling them. Its most recent CQC inspection in December 2025 rated the service good overall. Useful questions include how staff respond to distress or agitation without reaching first for medication, how they manage walking with purpose and any risk of leaving the building, and how they adjust support as memory, communication and mobility change. Ask too how families are kept informed when something shifts.
Mental Health
For adults living with a longstanding mental health condition, a settled routine, predictable staff and respect for privacy often matter as much as any clinical input. Park Lodge Care Home is registered to support people in this group. Ask what experience staff have of conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or severe depression, how medication and community mental health team appointments are coordinated, and what happens if someone becomes acutely unwell out of hours.
Physical Disability
Living with a physical disability in a care home depends heavily on the building itself, from doorway widths and bathroom layouts to hoists, profiling beds and accessible outdoor space. Park Lodge Care Home is registered to support adults with a physical disability. Before committing, visit in person and ask which rooms are step free, what moving and handling equipment is available, how personal care is timed around the resident's preferences, and how the home supports independence rather than taking over.
Younger Adults
Adults under 65 in a residential home can find themselves out of step with much older housemates if lifestyle, interests and pace of day are not thought through. Park Lodge Care Home is registered for younger adults and describes itself as a smaller setting. Ask how the home supports age appropriate routines, contact with friends and family, use of phones and technology, and access to the local area, and whether there are or have been other younger residents.
Respite Care
Planned respite in London usually needs booking several weeks ahead, especially around school holidays and over winter. Park Lodge Care Home offers respite for planned breaks and for people recovering after illness or a hospital stay. Pack clearly labelled clothing, toiletries, medication in its original packaging, glasses, hearing aids and a few familiar items. Ask about minimum stay length, daily rates and whether a respite visit can later count as a trial for a permanent room.
Residential Care
Residential care covers the everyday side of living somewhere safely when managing at home has become too much, without the clinical input of a registered nurse on site. That normally means help with personal care, meals cooked in the home, laundry, medication support, company and some form of activity, with district nurses and GPs called in for health needs as they arise. Nursing care, by contrast, is for people whose conditions need daily input from a nurse, such as complex wounds, tube feeding or unstable long term illness. Park Lodge Care Home in Lewisham is registered for residential care rather than nursing, so families should ask how the home works with community health services if a resident's needs increase, and at what point a move might be suggested. Indicative London fees run from about £1150 to £1500 a week.
