About Us
The Lodge Residential Home in Thurnby provides care for older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss.
We aim for a home where people are known properly rather than simply cared for. That takes staff who stay long enough to learn somebody's history, habits and preferences, and care planned with the person rather than written about them. Help is given with washing and dressing, with transfers and moving safely, with medication and with eating and drinking well, and it is given at the pace of the person.
For those living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the surroundings familiar, adjust how we communicate rather than expecting somebody to adjust to us, and treat distress as something to be understood. Where sight or hearing has declined, consistent small adjustments make a large difference, so we make sure the whole team works in the same way.
The home is somewhere people live. Rooms are personalised, meals are cooked here with a real choice, and visitors are welcome without ceremony.
Respite and short stays can be arranged.
If you would like to look round, please telephone us and we will arrange a time.
