About Us
Oakleigh Residential Home in Swadlincote provides care for older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability.
People move in when managing at home has stopped being realistic, and our first concern is that the change feels like relief rather than only loss. We ask about somebody's life before they came, their family, their working years and their habits, and we use that to shape their days, because care planned without that knowledge is only a list of tasks.
Staff help with washing and dressing, with transfers and moving safely, with medication and with meals and drinks, and they do it without hurrying anybody. For those living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the surroundings familiar, and we treat distress as something to be understood rather than managed.
Meals are cooked on the premises with a genuine choice. There is company for those who want it and quiet for those who do not, and visitors are welcome without ceremony.
Respite and short stays can be arranged for families needing a break or people recovering after illness.
If you would like to see the home, please telephone us and we will arrange a visit at a time that suits you.
