About Us
Acorn Close is a residential care home in Shepshed, Leicestershire, supporting younger adults with a learning disability, adults who are autistic, people living with mental ill health and people with a physical disability. We also offer respite stays.
Because the people who live here have different needs and very different lives, we do not run the house to one pattern. Support is worked out individually and the week belongs to the person, whether that means a job, a course, volunteering, time with family, a favourite trip out or a settled routine that nobody disturbs.
Our team learns how each person communicates, including those who do not use speech, and pays attention to the signs that somebody is uncomfortable, bored or unwell. Where a resident becomes distressed, we work on the basis that there is a reason for it and that finding the reason is part of our job.
People choose their own food, keep their own space and habits, and are supported to do as much for themselves as they want to. Help with mobility and personal care is given discreetly, in the way each person prefers.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
