About Us
The Village Care Home is a residential care home in Ibstock, Leicestershire. We support older people and younger adults, including residents with a physical disability and those with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite care for planned short stays.
We take the view that a care home ought to get out of the way of the people living in it. Residents decide when they get up, what they eat, where they spend their time and how much company they want. Some enjoy everything that is going on in the communal rooms; others prefer their own room, their own radio and a bit of quiet, and neither choice needs explaining to us.
Before anybody moves in we spend time with them and with the people who know them best, because the small details are what decide how quickly somebody settles. Where a resident wants to carry on doing something for themselves we support that even when it takes a good deal longer, because independence is worth the extra time.
Physical disability and sensory impairment are part of the ordinary running of the house rather than something separate. We think carefully about how rooms are arranged, how someone moves about safely, how equipment is used and how we communicate, so that the building and the routine work for the person.
Respite stays are planned with the same care as a permanent move, whether a carer needs a break or someone is recovering after a spell in hospital.
Ibstock is a friendly village and we like being part of it. Please contact us if you would like to visit.
