About Errol House

Errol House is a residential care home in Wetherby, near Leeds, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and younger adults. We also offer respite stays for people who need somewhere for a shorter period. This is a house where people live their own lives rather than a setting where things are done to them. People choose how their rooms look, take part in shopping, cooking and keeping the place running as much as they want to and are able to, and get out to what they actually enjoy in Wetherby and around Leeds. Where somebody wants a job, a course or a regular club, that goes into the support plan rather than being treated as an extra. Doing this well is a matter of detail. How much noise there is in a room. Whether a change of staff or plan needs flagging days in advance. Which way of communicating genuinely reaches a person, whether that is speech, symbols, writing or simply time and patience. Where somebody has a physical disability, we make sure equipment and layout help them do things for themselves rather than getting in the way. We keep the staff team consistent, train people to head off distress early, and work closely with families, social workers and health colleagues. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Visitors are welcome.
