About Us

Oxford House is a residential care home in Preston supporting a broad mix of adults. Some are older people who need more help than could be managed at home. Some are living with dementia. Others are adults living with mental health needs, a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and we support younger adults as well as older residents.

Running a home with that range of people works because we plan around individuals rather than groups. We learn what someone's day looked like before they came here and we try to keep as much of it as we can. People choose when to get up, what to eat, where to sit and whether they want company or quiet.

For residents living with dementia we keep routines familiar and the building calm, and we take our cue from the person. For those living with mental health needs we watch for early changes and work alongside community teams. For people with a sensory impairment or a physical disability we adapt how we communicate and how the space works, because small practical adjustments decide how independent someone can be.

Respite stays are available and are treated with the same care as permanent places.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good.
