About Dixons Farm
Dixons Farm is a residential care home near Preston supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays. What we try to provide is a settled household rather than a service with bedrooms attached. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat, when they get up and how much of the day they want to spend in company. Those choices are not an extra. They are most of what makes somewhere liveable. Support is planned around what each person wants to be able to do rather than only around risk. For some that is cooking, shopping and handling money. For others it is getting to college or work, keeping up friendships and family contact, or simply having a predictable environment where sensory needs are understood rather than worked around. Where someone needs a great deal of help, we still look hard for the parts they can manage, because independence disappears quietly unless somebody is protecting it. Communication gets real attention here. We learn how each person tells us what they want, including those who use little or no speech, and we adjust to them rather than the reverse. Being a little outside Preston gives us space and quiet, which suits a lot of the people we support, and we make good use of the town and surrounding area too. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit us.
