About Us
Here at Wilton Lodge Care Home, we provide residential and dementia care for older people in the heart of Hull. We are proud to have been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort and thoughtfulness our team brings to their work each and every day.
We understand that moving into a care home is a significant step, both for the person coming to live with us and for their family. That is why we take time to get to know each resident properly, their history, their preferences, the little things that matter to them. Care that feels personal does not happen by accident; it comes from listening carefully and then acting on what we hear.
Our home specialises in older person care, residential care and dementia care. For those living with dementia, we know how important it is to provide an environment that feels calm, familiar and safe, while still encouraging as much independence and enjoyment as possible. We work closely with families to make sure they feel informed, included and reassured throughout their loved one's time with us.
Life at Wilton Lodge is about more than meeting day to day needs. We want residents to feel genuinely at home, to enjoy good food, comfortable surroundings and the company of people who know them well. Our team builds real relationships with the people they support, and that continuity matters enormously to residents and families alike.
We are based in Hull and are very much part of this community. If you are considering care for yourself or someone close to you, we warmly encourage you to get in touch or come and visit us. Seeing a home in person tells you far more than any description can, and we would be delighted to welcome you.

More about the care at Wilton Lodge - Care Home
What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.
Older Person Care
Day to day support for older people typically covers help with washing and dressing at the pace someone prefers, prompts or full assistance with medication, meals and drinks through the day, and the quieter companionship that stops long afternoons feeling lonely. Wilton Lodge is registered with the CQC for older person care in Hull, so families can ask specifically how mornings and evenings are structured, how call bells are answered, and what staffing looks like overnight when the home is quietest. It is also worth asking how GP visits, dentistry and chiropody are arranged. Weekly fees across Yorkshire and Humberside tend to fall between £800 and £1050, while Kingston upon Hull City Council usually funds around £650 to £800, so any top up should be explained clearly in writing before a move.
Dementia
Strong dementia care usually shows itself in small, consistent things: familiar faces on shift, routines that mirror a person's own history, calm decor and signage, and secure outdoor space that allows a walk without anxiety. Staff training in conditions like Alzheimer's and vascular dementia matters, as does a settled approach to distress rather than quick use of medication. Wilton Lodge is registered by the CQC for dementia care and was rated Good at its January 2018 inspection, which is a reasonable starting point for a conversation. Ask how the home responds when a resident becomes agitated in the evening, how they support someone who walks with purpose, and how the plan of care is reviewed as needs change. Fees in the region run from around £800 to £1050 weekly.
Respite Care
Respite stays work best when booked several weeks ahead, particularly around school holidays when demand rises. Most homes ask for a minimum of one or two weeks, and Wilton Lodge should be able to confirm its own policy along with the daily rate. Pack clearly labelled clothing, current medication in original packaging, and a short note about routines and preferences. Many families use a first short stay as a gentle trial before considering a permanent move.
Residential Care
Residential care is aimed at people who need daily support but not the ongoing input of a registered nurse. It generally includes cooked meals, help with personal care, laundry, medication support and a programme of activities and company, with district nurses called in for clinical tasks when needed. Nursing homes, by contrast, have nurses on site around the clock for conditions that need constant monitoring. Wilton Lodge in Hull is registered for residential and dementia care rather than nursing, which shapes who it can support long term. Regional fees usually sit between £800 and £1050 a week, with Kingston upon Hull City Council typically paying £650 to £800, so families should ask what is included and whether any extras such as hairdressing or outings are billed separately.
