About Us
Benjamin Lodge is a residential care home in Hull providing a home for adults living with mental health conditions.
Stability is what we offer first. Most people arrive after a period in which very little has been settled, and a predictable place with familiar staff and a routine that does not change without warning does more good in the early weeks than anything else. Everybody has their own room and their own way of going about the day.
Staff are here at every hour to help with practical matters, to prompt and support with medication and to talk when that is what is needed. We work closely with the mental health professionals involved in each person's care so that the approach stays consistent rather than shifting from one month to the next.
Much of what we do is deliberately ordinary, because ordinary things are what rebuild confidence. Cooking, shopping, looking after your own room, managing money, keeping appointments and getting out into Hull are all things we do alongside people rather than for them. Progress is uneven and we do not treat a bad week as a failure.
Respite stays can be arranged where they are appropriate.
If you are looking for a placement for yourself or for somebody you support, please get in touch and come and see us.

Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?
No. Benjamin Lodge is not listed for dementia care on the CQC register. If dementia is likely, choose a home that is, so a second move is not needed later. Source: CQC register
Is there a nurse on site if health needs change?

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
