About Us
Lake View Manor is a residential care home in Hull for older people, including those living with dementia and residents with a physical disability. We are not a nursing home, so what we do well is personal care, a settled daily rhythm and knowing everybody who lives here as a person rather than a set of needs.
We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and anything else that has become difficult, at the pace of the person rather than the pace of a rota. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they sit, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet afternoon on their own.
For residents living with dementia we keep the surroundings familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and try to work out what is behind a change in mood instead of treating it as a symptom. Where somebody has a physical disability the right equipment is in place and staff are trained to help with moving safely and comfortably.
Mealtimes matter here. Food is cooked on the premises, we ask people what they actually fancy and nobody is hurried along.
Respite stays are available for family carers needing a break or for somebody regaining strength after illness. You are welcome to visit and ask us anything you want to know.
