About Us

Dales House is a residential care home in Hull. The people living here are a genuinely mixed group, which we think makes for a better place to live. We support older people and younger adults, residents living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Holding that range together takes more than goodwill, so we work from the individual outwards. What can you do for yourself, what would you like help with, what makes a day go wrong, how will you tell us when something is not right. Those answers shape the support plan and we write it with the person rather than about them. For residents living with dementia we keep staffing steady and the routine predictable, and we ask families for the life history that helps a conversation get started. Where sight or hearing is poor, we adapt how we communicate and check that aids are working. Respite stays are available, with visits beforehand where we can arrange them, so that arriving is not a shock. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we keep asking residents and their families what would make it better.
