About Us
35 Priory Grove is a small residential care home in Hull. We support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment and people living with dementia. Most of the people living here are younger adults.
Being small is the point. In a house rather than an institution, people can be known properly, and support can be shaped around individuals instead of around a rota. Staff learn how each person communicates, what unsettles them, what they enjoy and how they like their day to run, and that knowledge is worth more than any written plan.
For autistic residents and people with a learning disability we pay particular attention to predictability. Routines that hold, clear information, honest warning before anything changes and genuine choice will head off most difficulties. Where somebody is distressed, we look at what is being asked of them rather than treating the person as the problem.
People choose how their rooms look, what they eat and how they spend their time. Getting out into Hull is part of the ordinary week, and we support people to keep up with family, friends and whatever they were doing before they moved in.
Respite stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please contact us if you would like to visit.
