About Crossways Community

Crossways Community is a residential care home in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The people living here include older people and younger adults, people with a learning disability or autism and people managing mental health conditions. Respite stays are available. We think of this as a community rather than a facility, and the name is meant seriously. People have their own rooms, their own routines and a real say in how their days go, and much of what makes the place work comes from the people living here rather than from us. Many of those who come to us have had unsettled periods and a number of moves, so somewhere calm where nothing changes without warning is the first thing we try to offer. Support is agreed with each person rather than imposed. For some that means working towards managing more independently. For others it means reliable support that simply holds steady. Both are legitimate, and we try not to push people towards goals that are ours rather than theirs. We work closely with community mental health colleagues, social workers and families. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining our practice around privacy, choice and the way concerns are handled. If you are considering a place with us, please come and visit, meet the people who live here and ask us whatever you need to know.
