About Us

Bon Secours is a residential care home in Deal, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, including many younger adults. We offer permanent places and planned respite stays.

We run a house where people live rather than a unit where people are placed. Residents have their own rooms, a real say in how the household works and support planned with them instead of written about them. Staff are here to help people do things for themselves wherever that is possible.

Environment matters a great deal. Noise, lighting, predictability and knowing what is happening next are often the difference between someone who is settled and someone who is constantly braced for something. We shape the house around the people in it. The same goes for communication: whether a person signs, uses symbols or an app, or communicates in ways we have learned to read, the work of understanding belongs to us.

We want to be straightforward about our last inspection. The Care Quality Commission rated us as requires improvement. We are working through what was identified rather than explaining it away, with closer oversight of care records and risk assessments, more structured supervision for staff and clearer checks that what we plan actually happens day to day.

We would rather tell you that plainly. Families, prospective residents and professionals are welcome to visit, ask difficult questions and see the home as it really is.
