About The Grange

We are a residential care home in Ashford, caring for older people including those living with dementia and those with physical disabilities. We aim to run the place as a household rather than an institution. People get up when they wake, eat what they like, keep their own furniture and photographs around them, and see visitors without having to arrange it in advance. Small freedoms of that sort are easy to lose in a care home and hard to win back, so we protect them deliberately. Support here covers personal care, medicines, mobility and help with the practical parts of the day, given in a way that leaves as much independence intact as possible. For people living with dementia, we concentrate on familiarity, unhurried routines and staff who know each person's history well enough to make sense of what they are trying to say. We take agitation as a sign that something is wrong rather than as a behaviour to manage. Respite stays are available for people who need support after a spell in hospital or whose family carer needs a break. We plan them properly rather than treating them as filling a gap. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering a move for yourself or a relative, please come and look round. We would rather you saw an ordinary day here, with all its noise and activity, than a carefully staged visit.
