About Us

May Morning is a residential care home in Ashford, Kent, supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. The house is small on purpose. Being properly known by the people who support you does more good than any programme, and support built around individuals works better than support built around a routine. We take time to learn how each person communicates, particularly when they are anxious and words become harder to reach, what their sensory needs are and which parts of a week are reliably difficult. Where sight or hearing is poor we make sure communication genuinely works rather than assuming it does. What we want is for the people here to get on with the things they actually want to do, with us handling the genuinely hard parts and keeping out of the way of the rest. Support plans are written with the person in words that are theirs. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
