About Us
Three Oaks Care Home is in Welwyn Garden City, and we provide residential care for adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with a physical disability. We also offer respite stays.
We work on the principle that this is a home rather than a service with bedrooms attached. People choose how their rooms are arranged, what they eat, when they get up and how much of the day they want to spend in company. Those choices are not a nice extra. They are most of what makes a place liveable.
Support is built around what each person wants to be able to do. That might be cooking, handling money, using the bus, getting to college or work, or keeping up with family and friends. Where someone has a physical disability we think properly about equipment, layout and how much help to offer, because being over assisted is its own kind of loss and happens easily.
Communication gets real attention. We learn how each person expresses themselves, including those who use little or no speech, and we adjust to them. The same goes for sensory needs and for how predictable we keep the day.
Respite stays give families a break and give the person staying somewhere familiar and well set up to come to.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If Three Oaks might suit someone you are supporting, please come and visit and ask us anything.
